We are so excited to have Music Generation Roscommon perform a special pre-festival event again this year, specially created for Boyle Arts Festival 2025! This year’s show is called ‘End of a Century’ and explores music from the 90’s, renowned for its creativity, authenticity, and diversity.

This year’s show, titled End of a Century, dives into the music of the 1990s – an era defined by creativity, authenticity, and fearless expression. With a focus on two powerful themes: What music shaped the final decade of the 20th century and How did artists reflect hopes, fears, and visions of a new century – the young performers bring a thoughtful and high-energy set to life.

Expect distorted guitars, raw vocals, dark lyrical themes, and compelling performances inspired by iconic artists like Nirvana, Radiohead, and pioneers of 90s hip-hop. These students have embraced the grit and emotion of the era, producing a live set that’s as thought-provoking as it is powerful.

This event is the result of months of collaboration, creativity, and passion. It’s a showcase of emerging Boyle talent and the transformative impact of music education.

Music Generation Roscommon is part of the national Music Generation Ireland programme, funded locally by Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board, Roscommon County Council, Foróige, and TUSLA. Their mission is to provide accessible, high-quality music education to young people in schools, youth services, and community settings across the county.

From original rap with Roma youth groups to performances at Dublin Castle and Darkness into Light, these young musicians are no strangers to big stages—and this performance promises to be no exception.
