Music Generation – Songs About Love

In a special pre-launch event, Music Generation Roscommon presents their show ‘Songs About Love’ in a unique concert, created specially for Boyle Arts Festival 2024. Young musicians, poets, artists and dancers from Boyle Music Hub and Roscommon String Ensemble from Roscommon County Youth Orchestra explore the powerful emotions of love through different musical genres and styles of song writing.

Music Generation Roscommon is part of Music Generation Ireland‘s national performance music education programme. Music Generation Roscommon is funded locally by lead partner, Galway and
Roscommon Education and Training Board, Roscommon County Council, Foroige and TUSLA .

Their Musician Educators work across the County within a variety of settings including primary schools, post primary schools, Foróige groups, Family Resource Centres, The Brothers of Charity, After school Club Hubs, Roscommon Youth Orchestra and more.

They provide accessible performance music education within these settings and facilitate a range of performance opportunities for all participants. Young musicians have written their own music including hip-hop/Rap with Roma group, original songs for Night &Day Festival and arrangements for their extraordinary show for Boyle Arts Festival 2023.

The young musicians have performed locally at Darkness into Light, Roscommon Arts Centre, King House, Somers Park, Boyle and Ballaghaderreen family resource centres, Kilbride Community Hall and Nationally at the Convention Centre Dublin, Dublin Castle, Portlaoise, Carlow and more.

Music Generation strive to transform children and young people’s lives by giving them opportunities to create, play and perform their music in their communities and on their own terms. Their mission is to empower children and young people to realise their full potential through access to, and participation in, high quality performance music education.

In this special performance, created specially for Boyle Arts Festival, over 30 local young singers and musicians will perform an eclectic live set of classic songs.
